Vocabulary

We've been working on expanding Gabe's vocabulary since he started talking and slowly but surely he's using more words. Like any Toddler his newest words are often half words which we understand and hopefully he'll fill the rest in with time.

I was especially happy to see Gabe start using his third sign. I've been using the Hungry sign whenever I put him in the highchair to eat, and after literally months of showing him he now uses it when we ask him if he's hungry. Success!

Vocabulary List:

Appah = "Apple"
Dis = "This"
Ba = "Ball"
BuhBuh = "Bubbles"
Ah Da = "All Done"
Book
Up
Dada
Mama
Uh Oh

What are the other 2 signs he knows? Was taking the time to teach the signs worth it? Moms at work fall on both sides of the issue. Something it was pointless and others think it's the best thing ever.

Hi Dori! His first sign was "more" and his second was "all done". I don't think it would have been worth it to go gung-ho with the signs, but you can see the frustration melt away from toddlers when they get their point across. A few signs seem to be a great stepping-stone into talking. Cheers!

"Book" was an early word for both of my kids too. (Which pleased me no end, since I was and am a book-lover&hoarder.) Tiny ones seem to be able to say "B" very early and the hard "K" at the end must also be a, relatively speaking, easy sound to make. Isn't it just fascinating to watch your own child begin to talk and speak and understand language? It's all good, that kid business.
